| Dear Customer,
Thank you for your interest in BSD. We are very proud of our line of small craft sails. When you see a BSD rig you will understand why. Take a little time and look through our site and find out why BSD is the first choice of sail rigs for recreational and expedition level small craft sailors. My name is Mark Balogh, the 'B' in BSD, and I am the designer of the BSD products. I also cut, sew, build hardware, and pack boxes. In fact, when you receive your BSD rig, I had a personal part in building it and getting it to you. My reputation is on the line with everything we make. We're a small company and everyone here is a small boat sailor. Everyone who works on your rig knows what it is supposed to do and takes personal responsibility that it does it right. If you call us up with a question, a compliment, or complaint, chances are the person you talk to worked on your rig. We take the credit or responsibility, and we like it that way. We not only make the rigs, we use them, and that is one of the reasons they work so well. These are the rigs the sailmaker uses, and they are the very best. Another reason BSD rigs work so well is our independent field testers, like Verlen and Valerie Kruger. Verlen has covered around 90,000 miles in a canoe. On their TWO CONTINENT CANOE EXPEDITION, Verlen and Valerie, started at the Arctic Circle and ended at Cape Horn. The Krugers used stock, off the shelf BATWINGs to supplement their paddling. With tests such as a Gulf Stream crossing from Florida to the Bahamas or sailing through a 93 MPH squall on lake Argentina, the BATWINGs came through without any breakdowns. In a recent summer we heard of at least 5 boats using BSD gear above the Arctic Circle, all in one season. As I write this, renowned author and adventurer, Jonathan Waterman is in the middle of a two year transit of the Northwest Passage. Jonathan, perhaps best known for his mountain climbing, understands from experience the value of using just the right equipment. Jonathan insists on proven, safe, reliable equipment. These pro's chose BSD because they needed a totally dependable product, because they needed an edge. BSD rigs are undoubtedly the best built small craft sail rig ever, a fact we're sure you can appreciate. Equally important, to the pro or the beginner, is that BSD rigs are easy to use. The reason is the 'D' in BSD, DESIGN. These rigs are designed from the very start to be the simplest, most 'user-friendly' rigs available. What does this mean to you? It gives you the freedom to SAIL, the 'S' in BSD, the one thing you buy our product for. You don't need to spend all of your time rigging. We are proud of the aerodynamic efficiency of our sails, the high grade materials and durability, but one of our customers probably said it best, "I can have my boat off of the truck, and on the water, sailing, in 5 minutes." All of our rigs are unstayed. That means no wires, the mast stands up simply by support of the rig structure. The masts also break down into convenient sized sections for you to carry or stow. You can rig or de-rig your boat on the water as conditions change, which allows you to make the best of your valuable leisure time. BSD means versatility. Many of our customers come to us because they are tired of owning and maintaining a quiver of boats. To them, and probably to you too, the fact that one boat performs more than one function, is a real plus. I enjoy paddling my sea kayak, that's the primary reason I bought it, but the sailing has turned out to be the main reason I use it. When the conditions are good for paddling, I paddle, when it's good for sailing I sail, all in one 50 lb. boat. A complete rig for a double kayak or canoe fits into a space about 5" by 10" by 54". On the boat or in your closet, it's a manageable package. Does all of this make sense to you? It does to us and to a growing number of small craft owners. BSD makes it easy to enjoy your limited time on the water. Whether you're a novice, looking for more boating fun, or an old salt planning the ultimate expedition, you need an edge. Think about small boat sailing, and choose BSD......... for the edge. Sincerely,
